Hello Everyone,
Today I thought that I would make a list of all of the books that I adored growing up, some from when I was really young and some from when I was in grade 7 or 8. When I was growing up I would struggle to sit down and actually read a whole book from start to finish. I would usually read 50 pages and then give up and watch television or something. But, once I reached grade 6/7 I really started reading no stop. I would always have a book in my hands everywhere that I went. Whether it was 5 minutes before a class started or sitting for hours after school. I was hooked. Anyway, I'm so glad that I discovered that books can be amazing and take you on amazing adventures where you fall in love with all of the beautiful characters.
Goosebumps books by R.L Stine
When I was younger these books were all the craze. I was absolutely obsessed with these books even thought they gave me terrible nightmares. I would take these out of the library before I could buy my own copies. What I really loved about these books were the amazing supernatural characters that were nothing like I had ever imagined. They were also short which meant that I didn't have a chance to lose interest in them. These books were one of the components of my childhood that I will never forget! One of my favourite books in the Goosebumps series were the Night of the Living Dummy books. The dummy still haunts my nightmares sometimes.
Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy
This series was one of the first long series that I ever read. And it was also one of the first books that I read that had more than 300 pages. This series is a fantasy/action/crime/adventure. The main character is a living skeleton detective called Skulduggery Pleasant. Skulduggery and his partner, Valkyrie Cain go on missions to defeat evil and make the world a better place. These books were really good and at the time that I read these books they were amazing and I absolutely fell in love with the characters.
CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore
This is a young adult series that follows a boy named James Adams who is recruited as a teenage spy into the CHERUB organisation which recruits orphaned children under the age of seventeen into espionage. There are twelve books in the series and they follow James from his recruitment until he retires from being a CHERUB agent when he turns seventeen. I absolutely adored these books and I really want to reread them soon! Robert Muchamore also wrote two spinoff series' about CHERUB. The first, called Henderson's Boys is a prequel set during World War Two and it explained how the CHERUB agency was formed it was great to see how the agency formed and the differences in the two different time periods. There are seven books in the Henderson's Boys series. Lastly, a series that followed a boy named Ryan Sharma and reintroduced James Adams into the series as a CHERUB trainer. These books were honestly amazing and after you read one you just have to read them all. I highly recommend them!
Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer
Lastly, the Twilight series. This one is a little obvious but when I was in grade 7 all of my friends were reading these books and I just had to see what the buzz was about. I remember reading them and absolutely falling in love with them so much that once I had finished reading the last book, Breaking Dawn, I reread the series from New Moon (the second book). I'm sure that you know what this series is about even if you haven't read it so I'm not going to say much about that. I will say one thing though. Vampires. These books sent most teenage girls into a vampire loving frenzy, after the Twilight series I read so many vampire books. It's actually crazy!
Should I write another post on my favourite childhood books? There are so many more!
How is your September reading going?
:)
